
Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Release – April 2026.
CHEMUNG COUNTY, NY – The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 37-year-old Ryken G. Ruuspakka, of Horseheads, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Assault 3rd Degree, all Class A Misdemeanors, following a domestic dispute in the Town of Horseheads.
On Sunday, April 5, 2026, around 11:52 PM, the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a domestic incident in the Town of Horseheads, which resulted in the arrest of Ruuspakka for “alleged” Assault 3rd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree.
Due to the New York State domestic violence laws, a total of 47 firearms were removed from the residence, including 6 non-New York State compliant weapons and four 30 round magazines.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff’s Office was made aware and assisted in the remainder of the investigation. Due to the non-compliant rifles, Ruuspakka was also charged with Criminal Possession of Weapon in the 3rd Degree, class D Felonies.
Ruuspakka was arraigned in the Town of Horseheads Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail in lieu of bail. He is scheduled to appear in Court at a later date.
