CHARLESTON TOWNSHIP, PA – Wellsboro fire and EMS crews responded to a single vehicle accident early Saturday evening, July 11, 2026, around 6:10 PM, just after the 911 Dispatch Center received word about the crash from Pennsylvania State Police.
The accident occurred along Cherry Flats Road near the Miller Hill Road intersection, where it was reported that a vehicle had struck a utility pole.
Wellsboro fire personnel arrived on scene by 6:15 PM and they reported that a cargo van was sitting off the roadway and that the occupants were still inside the vehicle. There was no report of damage to the utility pole.
Wellsboro Fire Chief was next to arrive on scene and he was able to recall the responding ambulance out of Wellsboro at 6:19 PM as there were no injuries on scene.
Pennsylvania State Police would arrive at the incident by 6:24 PM to start their investigation into the crash. A couple minutes later Wellsboro Fire Chief was also able to recall the responding fire engine as they were not needed at the scene.
At 6:29 PM Cooper’s Towing was the final unit to arrive on scene. The Wellsboro Fire Chief was able to leave the scene at 6:32 PM as Pennsylvania State Police and Cooper’s remained on scene until the vehicle was towed from the incident.
