FARMINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA – (Update) Two local motorcyclists suffered injuries in a three vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon, July 9, 2026.

Fire units from Tioga Volunteer Fire Department, Lawrenceville Fire Department, and Middlebury Township Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a reported accident involving two motorcycles just off Palmer Road and onto Elkhorn Road in Farmington Township. Also dispatched at 2:13 PM, was an ambulance stationed in Nelson and two medic units from Wellsboro.

The 911 Dispatch operator noted to responding units that this crash sounded severe. The Dispatcher immediately checked on the availability of two medical helicopters in case they were needed to fly the victims to a trauma unit.

An ambulance from from Wellsboro was next to be requested as it was said there were two critical patients.

Ambulance 27-6 was first to arrive on scene at 2:19 PM. It was stated that the roadway was clear and both victims were laying on the ground. One male victim had an open femur fracture with heavy bleeding and the other victim was unresponsive. After both victims were checked over, it was confirmed that both medical helicopters were needed.

Guthrie Air and LifeNet 7-7 would accept the call to respond. A landing zone was selected in a nearby field along the Palmer Road, FNN was told. Lawrenceville fire personnel would establish the landing zone for both helicopters.

The Elkhorn Road was closed down at 2:22 PM and PennDOT was requested to assist with traffic control.

FNN received word that the two motorcyclists were traveling together when they came upon a mail truck heading straight at them. According to family this was a head-on crash, although officials have not confirmed that information. The driver of the mail truck was not injured and that driver refused treatment.

Tthe motorcyclist with the open femur fracture, was said to have had two tourniquets applied to help slow down the bleeding as the femoral artery was damaged.

Pennsylvania State Police arrived at the accident site at 2:28 PM and their investigation was started as they spoke to the uninjured mail truck driver, as EMS personnel continued to treat the two critical patients at the scene.

Within the first 15 minutes after EMS and fire personnel arrived on scene, Guthrie Air was landing in the nearby field at 2:44 PM and both victims had already been loaded into ambulances and ready to head to the landing zone. LifeNet 7-7 helicopter landed at 3:05 PM in the same field as Guthrie Air had. Guthrie Air medical helicopter took to the air right after LifeNet 7-7 landed. Guthrie Air headed to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA with their victim.

By 3:23 PM LifeNet 7-7 was also airborne to Robert Packer hospital with their patient.

Cooper’s Towing out of Wellsboro assisted at the scene and would remove the damaged motorcycles. All fire and EMS units from Tioga, Lawrenceville and Middlebury were cleared to return to their stations around 3:56 PM.

All this occurred in just over an hour. An amazing job by all fire and EMS personnel working together with Tioga County Dispatch Center.

FNN received word that Jason Wyble of Tioga, PA and James Luce also of Tioga, PA were the motorcyclists that were injured.

Wyble was said to have a long road to recovery ahead. At this time, gift cards for food and gas are being requested for his family so his kids can visit him at the hospital.
