Release by District Attorney Richard Wilson – July 2026.
Chad Michael Salsman, 49, formerly of Wyalusing, PA, but currently residing in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, was sentenced to a minimum of two months in State Prison to a maximum of 60 months for the offense of Person Not to Possess a Firearm. Salsman was charged with the offense by Trooper Joshua Fisher following events where Salsman used a 22-caliber rifle to kill a pigeon in Wilmot Township.
“What is troubling about this case is that Salsman was only out on State Parole for a short period of time before he picked up a firearm to commit this crime,” stated District Attorney Richard Wilson. “Because Salsman was already on State Parole, there was no reason for him to receive a county sentence, even though this offense is a misdemeanor,” said Wilson.
Salsman will now be transported to State Prison where he will likely receive an additional parole hit, of sorts, serving additional months in State Prison before he is eligible for release on parole on this new conviction. “It is doubtful that Salsman will be released in the immediate future, given this new offense and that parole hit,” said District Attorney Wilson.
Salsman was also convicted of the Unauthorized Practice of Law because he was trying to act as a lawyer by giving legal advice to inmates while housed at the Bradford County Correctional Facility, awaiting trial. Salsman had been disbarred in 2021, due to his previous convictions for Promoting Prostitution, Intimidation of Witness, and Obstruction of Law. “The conviction for the Unauthorized Practice of Law was especially important, I believe, because it should make it impossible for Salsman to ever get his law license back,” said District Attorney Wilson.
