Obituary of Edith J. (Scholl) Volpe of Mansfield, PA

Edith J. (Scholl) Volpe, age 95, of Mansfield, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Valley View Nursing Home in Montoursville, PA. She was born on April 23, 1931 in Upper Milford Township, PA, a daughter of Gordon and Ethel (Smith) Scholl.

Edith was married to the late Estro M. Volpe who passed away on November 15, 2023. She worked as a cook in the school cafeteria in Plymouth Meeting, PA and was a member of Holy Child Catholic Church in Mansfield, PA. Edith volunteered at the Food Pantry for over 20 years and was a part of the Red Hatters in Mansfield, PA. She enjoyed painting, making Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs), reading, stained glass, and various needle arts.

Edith is survived by her daughters, Bonita (David) Marques of Seattle, WA, and Christina Bradbury of Minocqua, WI; a son, Ernest (Virginia) Volpe of Lumberton, NJ; five grandchildren, Gregory (Lillian) Marques, Rebecca (Shawn) Scully, Brenna (Michael) Bradbury, Anna (Greg) Sevant, Evan Volpe; four great grandchildren, Violet, Rowan, Freya, and Elise; and a special friend, Lisa Simmons of Covington, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Gordon Scholl, Jr.; and a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Sayer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Holy Child Catholic Church in Mansfield, PA, with Reverend Bryan Wright as celebrant. Burial took place in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery in Blossburg, PA.
