Obituary of Arnold E. Knapp of Wellsboro, PA

Arnold E. Knapp, 89, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Highlands Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Laporte.

Born on Thursday, December 31, 1936, in Wellsboro, Arnold was the son of the late John and Rosella (Hodder) Knapp, Jr.

Arnold spent many years working in the forestry industry. A talented musician, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends by playing the guitar, singing, and writing his own songs.

Known for his unique spirit and inventive nature, Arnold took great pride in creating and building many things throughout his life. One of his most cherished projects was a natural spring that became a favorite stop for many local residents who came to fill bottles with its fresh water. He also loved reminiscing about earlier days and sharing his countless stories with anyone willing to listen, leaving many with a smile and a memorable conversation.

Arnold is survived by his sons, Arnie Knapp of Covington, Carl Knapp of Wellsboro, and George Knapp of Wellsboro; daughters, Carol Knapp of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jeanette Knapp of Wellsboro, and Jackie Lundgren of Wellsboro; brothers, John Knapp III of Mainesburg, Danny Knapp, Sr. of Wellsboro; sisters, Connie Boyce of Lexington, Kentucky, Joyce Brooks of Wellsboro, and Sharon Sherman of Palmyra; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Arnold was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Knapp.

In keeping with Arnold’s wishes, there will be no public services. A private burial will be held at Welsh Settlement Cemetery in Wellsboro.
