Lost iPhone Located With Help of Firefighter and 911 Operator

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, PA – What was thought to be a possible accident had fire crews from Blossburg and Liberty responding to an area along Farm Road near the intersection of McCarty Hill Road in Liberty Township to investigate. The initial information came into the 911 Dispatch Center was made from an iPhone crash detection message.

Liberty Fire Chief 9-10 arrived in the area around 8:20 PM and immediately had responding units from both departments stand by as he found no crash at the location. As he was looking around an male on an ATV pulled up and was looking for his lost cell phone. At that time, a recall was issued for both departments by the fire chief on scene at 8:25 PM.

After the recall was issued the two men searched along Farm Road after confirming the general location of the cell phone with the 911 operator.

The cell phone was located by 8:35 PM with the help of the 911 operator who placed calls to the iPhone in hopes that it would be found.
