BRADFORD COUNTY, PA — A deer was reported to be the cause of a crash that left one motorcyclist dead and seriously injured a second motorcyclist on Saturday evening, April 18, 2026.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, two motorcyclists were traveling north along Route 409 in Wyalusing Township on Saturday evening just after 6:00 PM, when a deer jumped out in front of one of the two motorcycles.
An eye witness related that a deer had jumped out in-front of the first motorcyclist, who hit their brakes causing the second motorcyclist to run into the back of the first bike.
The motorcyclist that struck the rear of the other one ended up coming to rest off the right side of the roadway overturned on its right side. While the bike that was struck from behind, ended up on the right shoulder of the roadway completely upside-down.
Both Harley-Davidson motorcycles had to be towed from the crash scene. The rider who struck the other motorcyclist from behind was life-lighted to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, with serious injuries. Tragically the motorcyclist who tried to miss the deer and was struck from behind was pronounced
deceased on scene by the Bradford County Coroner.
No other information was provided on this accident as state police did not release the names of those involved in this terrible crash.
