Wildfire Quickly Extinguished In Westfield

WESTFIELD, PA – A Westfield Police Officer called in a suspected wildfire when he noticed heavy smoke coming from the pines along the side hill of North Street early Tuesday evening, September 9, 2025.

Around 7:56 PM fire crews from Crary Hose Company out of Westfield, Knoxville-Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company and Clymer Hose Company out of Sabinsville were dispatched to the wildfire.

Early reports indicated that the wildfire was burning along the hillside between North Street and Krusen Street. Arriving on scene by 7:59 PM, Crary Hose fire personnel noted the wildfire was actually behind a home located at 215 North Street with an access road. However, a bolt cutter was needed to unlock a gate at that entrance.

By 8:06 PM all fire companies with the exception of Crary Hose Company were recalled as firefighters had the fire under control and out a short time later. Crews made sure there were no hot spots and were able to start heading back to their station at 8:21 PM.
