MIDDLEBURY CENTER, PA – A truck driver was injured in a single vehicle crash on Monday morning, September 28, 2026, in Middlebury Township after his tractor trailer overturned along the edge of the road.
On Monday morning, September 28, 2026, around 8:28 AM, Middlebury Township Volunteer Fire Department and Tioga Volunteer Fire Department, as well as an ambulance from Wellsboro and Wellsboro Medics responded to a single vehicle accident in Middlebury Township.
The crash was reported near 779 Ridge Road and it was stated that a fire member from Elkland reported that a sand truck was on its side. The driver was said to have been injured and was confined inside the vehicle.
Firefighters removed the windshield of the tractor trailer to get the injured driver out of the cab. The driver was extricated from the cab by 8:48 AM and loaded into the awaiting ambulance.
Pennsylvania State Police arrived on scene shortly after the driver had been loaded into the ambulance. The injured driver was transported to UPMC Wellsboro Hospital, according to Middlebury fire personnel.

Middlebury’s and Tioga’s Recue units along with their crews remained on scene for nearly four hours. During that time the tractor trailer was up righted by White’s Towing. The vehicle was removed and the roadway was cleared by 12:06 PM. This allowed both Middlebury and Tioga crews to return back to their stations.
