LYCOMING COUNTY, PA – Trout Run fire crews were dispatched to a tractor trailer accident in the 20,000 block of Route 15 Highway in the Southbound lanes.

Trout Run Fire Chief and Lieutenant 1-16 arrived on scene first and confirmed that a tractor trailer had gone through the guide rail and over an embankment. The fire personnel reported that there were no injuries and the driver was already out of the truck but was still over the embankment. Lieutenant 1-16 went down to assist the driver.

An utility rope was said to have been deployed to assist with getting the driver and Trout Run’s Lieutenant back up the embankment. PennDOT and Hepburn firefighters handled traffic during the incident.

Route 15 Highway Southbound was closed down around 11:30 AM between Exit 158 (Route 284/Buttonwood/English Center) in Jackson Township and Exit 155 (Route 184/Steam Valley) in Cogan House Township in Lycoming County. A detour was set up using Route 284, Route 287, Route 220, and Interstate 180.

According to Trout Run Volunteer Fire Company, their engine crew requested an engine from Hepburn Township Volunteer Fire Company and a squad unit from Old Lycoming Township Fire Company due to suspected difficulties with the tractor trailer being over the embankment. However, Old Lycoming Township Fire Company was able to be recalled before they even responded as they were not needed at the crash scene. The engine from Hepburn area continue into the scene and would be released later.

One lane of Route 15 Southbound was opened to traffic around 2:30 PM. By 4:15 PM the tractor trailer was finally towed away and both lanes of Route 15 Southbound were cleared as traffic was once again running as normal. All remaining fire units were cleared around that same time.
