Tioga County Man Sentenced 8 to 20 Years For Sexually Assaulting Minor

TIOGA COUNTY, PA – Back on May 21, 2024, /Tioga County, PA resident Philip Grady McCormick was arrested on numerous charges of child sexual abuse of a minor. He was finally sentenced Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

According to court records, when McCormick was 37-years-old, when he was arrested while he was living in Mansfield, PA. McCormick was charged at that time with indecency with person less than 16 years, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault, criminal use of communication facility, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, indecent assault on persons of less than 16 years and unlawful contract with minor. 

Prior to McCormick’s arrest, police had conducted an interview on March 3, 2024, with a teenage female who said that McCormick had been abusing her since December 2022.  She also stated that McCormick paid her for sexual acts over Cash App.  Police obtained internet evidence showing $596 paid to the victim. 

McCormick was placed in the Tioga County Prison after his arrest in May as he could not make the monetary bail that was set at $75,000.00.

On December 23, 2025, in a release issued by Attorney General David Sunday, it was reported that 39-year-ikd Philip Grady McCormick, of Blossburg, PA, formerly of Mansfield, PA, was sentenced to 8 to 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child.

McCormick, previously pleaded guilty to involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 16 years old, unlawful contact with a minor, and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16.

As part of his sentence, McCormick is required to register as a Megan’s Law offender for life.

“This defendant committed horrific crimes against a child who believed him to be a trustworthy adult,” Attorney General Sunday said. “These crimes cause long-lasting trauma for the child, and my office will continue to advocate for children who are harmed by predators like this defendant.”

According to investigators, McCormick began sexually assaulting the victim, to whom he was closely acquainted, when she was 13 years old. The abuse continued for approximately two years before the victim disclosed the assaults to her mother.

This case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Rachael Coleman and Deputy Attorney General Andrew Biggins.
