WELLSBORO, PA – Wellsboro fire crews responded to a home at 145 Main Street for an odor investigation around 10:45 PM in Wellsboro Borough.
Fire personnel was quickly on scene by 10:50 PM as Engine 1-3 was responding with additional firefighters.
Early reports indicated that a smell of rubber was coming from the basement of the home and the odor was getting stronger. It was noted that the homeowner was not sure of the smell.
Wellsboro fire personnel reported that traffic was down to one lane between Lincoln Street and Main Street as they investigated.
It was finally determined by firefighters that a strong skunk odor was indeed the culprit in causing the odor in basement. The home was turned back over the homeowner and fire crews were cleared to return to their station around 11:16 PM.
