Sheeler Scores 1000th Point; Mounties Fall to Millersville

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield University women’s basketball team competed in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday, January 10 against Millersville University, falling 69-64

Katie Sheeler led the red and black with five rebounds and 32 points notching her 1,000th career point, where she is the 19th player in program history to accomplish.

Jenna Kasmierski backed her up with 11 points and six rebounds.

The Mounties (2-12, 0-7 PSAC) got the ball rolling early in the first quarter going with a 10-4 run on the hot hand of Sheeler.

Millersville (6-7, 2-5 PSAC) answered the pressure with a sequence of their own to end the quarter down, 17-12.

Both teams executed possessions strongly and kept the scoring from beyond the arc consistent.

The Marauders cut the lead down to 31-30 heading into halftime.

Each bench came out of the half, where Sheeler tied the game half way into the third quarter.

Millersville entered the fourth quarter up 52-43. 

Mansfield cut the lead to three, thanks to a lay-up by Sheeler.

The Marauders extended their lead to six points with under eight seconds to go, due to a missed free throw from Sheeler.

Sheeler was then presented with her opportunity and knocked down her 1,000th career point with a deep three.

The Mounties were could not comeback ultimately falling to Millersville 69-64.
