CHARLESTON TOWNSHIP, PA – (UPDATE) A two vehicle accident involving a box truck and a SUV occurred around 2:56 PM in Charleston Township. The crash occurred near or at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 660, on Tuesday afternoon, October 28, 2025.
Wellsboro fire crews, EMS and medics, as well as, an ambulance from Mansfield, all responded to the scene. FNN received word that that three individuals were involved in the two vehicle crash. However, one person was confirmed trapped inside the passenger vehicles when Wellsboro fire personnel arrived on scene at 2:59 PM. A medical helicopter was requested at that time.
Route 6 was closed down at 3:08 PM, by Wellsboro Command. A detour using Rice Road and Route 660 was put in place. Penn Dot also responded to assist with traffic control.
Guthrie Air Medical Helicopter headed to the crash area and landed in a field behind the Tioga County Fairgrounds around 3:36 PM.
Scott’s Towing based at 746 Scouten Road of Mansfield arrived on scene by 3:59 PM and would be responsible in removing the vehicle once Pennsylvania State Police concluded their investigation.
The trapped individual was extricated from the vehicle at 3:59 PM and was then transported to the fairground by Mansfield ambulance crew. Guthrie Air was airborne at 4:15 PM.
All Wellsboro units were cleared from the accident scene by 4:16 PM as the scene was turned over to Pennsylvania State Police and PennDOT personnel. Route 6 was reported open around 4:55 PM.
FNN has no update on the condition of the individual who was flown out to a trauma unit. If FNN receives any update it will be added to this article.
