Road Improvement Project Set to Begin Next Week in South Williamsport and Duboistown Boroughs, Lycoming County

LYCOMING COUNTY, PA – A road improvement project is set to begin this week on Southern Avenue/Riverside Drive/Euclid Avenue (Route 654) between Market Street (Route 15) in South Williamsport Borough and Edgewood Avenue in Duboistown Borough, Lycoming County.

Week of June 28

The contractor, Glenn O Hawbaker, Inc., will begin the milling and resurfacing project during nighttime hours. Traffic will be maintained using lane restrictions under flagging between the hours of 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this $3 million project. Work includes drainage improvements, base repairs, resurfacing of the roadway, signal upgrades, guide rail, and line painting.

Future work includes milling and resurfacing Main Street (Route 2012) between Hastings Street (Route 15 northbound) and the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing in South Williamsport Borough and a small section of Valley Street (Route 3004) in Duboistown Borough. This work includes milling and resurfacing of the existing roadway, guide rail, construction of ADA curb ramps, minor drainage improvements, and base repairs. Traffic will be maintained using a single lane with flagging.

Future Traffic Impact

  • Beginning Monday, July 6 through Friday, July 17, Valley Street will be detoured using Route 654 and Jacks Hollow Road (Route 3004) in Bastress Township during weekday daylight hours to accommodate drainage structure work.

Drivers should be alert, obey signs and flaggers, and drive with caution in the area. This project is anticipated to be completed in the Fall of 2026.
