Readers Asked to Fill Out Survey About Where They Get Their Local News

Information Release Provided to FNN Thanks to Our Readers – Please take the news survey it will be helpful for area news.

TIOGA COUNTY, PA – Local readers are being asked for their input by filling out an online news survey on how local residents receive their news. Because many of our readers in the past listed FIRST News Now PA as their to go local trusted news source, we received a request to share this information along with the news survey link from Press Forward PA Wilds to our readers.

Press Forward Pennsylvania Wilds, a chapter of the national Press Forward program, was launched last year with a $1 million grant from the Knight Foundation to address the decline of local news in rural Pennsylvania.  The organization’s goal is to ensure that residents in the region, regardless of how rural or remote an area is, still have access to reliable, relevant and trusted local news.

To meet that goal, Press Forward PA Wilds is raising money to invest in community-driven journalism, collaborations and long-term sustainability.

Before that can happen there is information that the organization needs to know.  Such questions include, How do people in the nine counties in PA Wilds get local news and information now?  Which sources do they trust?  How hard is it for readers to get local information they need when they need it?

Readers are being asked to fill out a 5 minute online survey, that survey can be accessed by clicking the following weblink – https://tinyurl.com/PFPAWilds

FNN is asking our readers to fill out the simple survey and share this article with family and friends.  The more people who take the survey about their local news, the more that can be done.

The survey is an opportunity for people to participate and make their voices heard.  What is learned from the surveys taken will help shape the kinds of investments made in localnews and help make the case for the resources people need.

For more information about this survey, about the Press Forward PA Wilds or to learn more how you can join the movement, contact Press Forward PA Wilds at (814) 237-6229 or click on the provided weblink – https://centrefoundation.org/pressforward.

The survey results and resulting report will be publicly available and will provide valuable insights for newsrooms and communities regarding the issues residents care about and how they access local news and information. They are investing $50,000 in reaching all nine counties and residents in their 9,000 square miles.

FNN wants to point out the survey can be take online or done in person at one of these in person events hosted by the organization.
