Phillip Joseph Carey, age 68, of Ithaca, NY, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. He was born on Tuesday, December 3, 1957 in Blossburg, PA, a son of Joseph and Shirley (Hunter) Carey.
He worked at M&M Wood Products. He enjoyed spending time with his son and grandchildren, skating, working on things with a motor, hunting, and fishing.
Phillip is survived by his son, Joey (Tierra) Carey of Elmira, NY; his mother, Shirley Carey of Morris Run, PA; three grandchildren, Jessyca Carey, Tamikus and Nevalette Jackson; a brother, Brion (Nell) Carey of Blossburg, PA; eight sisters, Alyce (Harold “Buster”) Aumick of Mansfield, PA, Tina Pequignot of Covington, PA, Brenda Overpeck of Blossburg, PA, Kimberly (Jake) Barnes of Morris Run, PA, Diana (Rich) Pequignot of Covington, PA, Lorrie Dake of Morris Run, PA, Sherry Carey of Blossburg, PA, and Shelly (Bob) Lee of Morris Run, PA. He was preceded in death by his father; granddaughter, Hannah Carey; and a brother-in-law, Jeff Pequignot.
