June Ester (Hughes) Preston, 87, of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
June passed away just weeks after her beloved husband Merl R. Preston, to whom she was married for 70 years, keeping them close even in death—a true testament of their love and bond. Together, they raised three children: daughters Bonnie Preston (Craig), Connie Johnson (Gary) and son Randy Preston (Rennie). Her legacy continues through seven grandchildren—Craig (Mara), Eric (Bonny), Clifton (Clarissa), Steph (Kendra), Randi Jo (Seth), Angie (John), and Alex (Ashley) along with great-grandchildren—Skylar, Kinzley, Tanner, Danny, Braydon, Ryan, Jaxon, John, Luke, Dakota, and Cole.
She was predeceased by her oldest grandson Danny, whose memory was always with her.
In her earlier years, June enjoyed picking apples at a local orchard each fall. While living on the farm, she kept busy in the kitchen most days cooking, canning, and visiting with everyone who stopped by.
One of the most cherished memories for her grandkids will be Orange Pop and an array of Little Debbie snacks put out on the table when they visited.
June enjoyed watching birds from her kitchen window, feeding the barn cats, and watching the cows, as well as donkeys in the pasture.
Her legacy will be carried on through home cooked meals shared around a kitchen table with family and friends for years to come. Arrangements are in the care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Inc.
