Obituary of Jane E. Montague of Mansfield, PA

Jane E. Montague, 71, of Mansfield, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Jane lived a life defined by kindness and service to others. She devoted her life to ministering to all she met. Jane started “Grandsavers are Lifesavers” and supported “Border Buddies”. She also spearheaded “Widows Might”.

Jane’s educational career spanned roles as a respected professor, dedicated teacher, Director of Curriculum and Federal Programs and elementary principal where she touched countless lives through her leadership and passion for learning.

She loved boating, traveling, baking brownies and cookies, singing, and being with friends and family. Jane’s heart was open to all who met her and she wanted to share her love of the Lord to all whom she met. Always willing to help.

Jane is survived by her loving husband, Ed Montague; four siblings – twin brother James (Mimi) Whittenhall, Corning NY, John Whittenhall, Clearwater Beach FL, Joel (Zondra) Whittenhall, Naples FL, Joyce (Paul) Freitas, Painted Post, NY; Nieces Alyson (Ben) Elwell, Taryn (Nick) O’Dell, Susan (Jay) Lysack; Great Nieces Janel, Aubriana and Clare; Her cherished lifelong friend of 50 years: Carol Paciorek.

Special thanks to Mansfield Guthrie Hospice team (Mandy, Kate, Chelsea, Tori and Sylvia), all the friends that either called, visited, provided meals and sent cards. Jane’s family truly appreciates all of you.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Mainesburg United Methodist Church, 100 Smith Park Rd., Mainesburg, PA 16932.
