Obituary of James Paul Root of Westfield, PA

James Paul Root, age 59 of Westfield passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, leaving behind memories of laughter and adventure.  Known for always having a smile on his face and the gift to make anyone laugh.  Born on Thursday, February 2, 1967, at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro, PA. He was the son of Duane and Mary Ann (Conrad) Root. 

Jim graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School, Class of 1985.  He owned and operated RWCC, a high-rise window cleaning business and worked for River Valley Country Club. 

He was a member of the Knoxville Deerfield Firehall, the Knoxville VFW and the Elkland Moose Lodge. 

Jim was a daredevil at heart who loved the outdoors, whether it was dirt bike hill climbing, sailing on the lake or riding his 4-wheeler. 

He liked reading, playing guitar and the 80’s rock bands, especially Motley Crue.  Above all, his greatest passion was his people.  Jim loved every moment spent with friends and family but his grandchildren were the center of his world. 

Jim is survived by his fiancé, Trina Patterson of Westfield; his parents, Duane and Mary Ann Root of Westfield; brothers, Lonny (Paul Marra) Root of Madrid, Spain and Michael (Diane) Root of Westfield; daughter, Harlana Schaar of Wellsboro and her mother, Tara Root; granddaughters, Ella Schaar of Westfield and her father, Shawn Schaar and Gia Lockett of Westfield and her father, John Lockett; nephew, David (Melanie) Root of Weston, CT; step daughters, Tasha Stocum of Corning and Courtney Jewell of Westfield; step son, Cody Jewell of Corning; special life long friends; Craig and Michelle Emmons, Ed (Julie Klien) Burrell, Tim and Denise Peet, Marlin and Belinda Burrell, Gary and Connie Lampman and many others. 

Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main Street in Westfield on Monday, February 16th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held immediately following at 4:00 PM with Rev.
