Ernie Sergejenko Jr., 55, resided in Pine City, NY, and was previously from Wellsboro, PA, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Ernie was a dedicated family man. Although he certainly enjoyed his alone time, he did everything he could to provide and care for his wife, children, and grandchildren. His biggest wish was for his loved ones to be happy and successful.
Ernie highly valued his and others’ intellect. He loved to pass on his knowledge and skills to anyone that would listen, especially his children. Conversely, he was also very comedic and enjoyed making his loved ones laugh.
He loved 70s & 80s rock and metal music. He had many favorites, including Led Zeppelin, Rush, Metallica, and Iron Maiden.
Ernie also enjoyed and collected retro video games and consoles, mainly the Atari 2600, which was his childhood console. He also played 90s & 2000s era computer games, like Command & Conquer.
Ernie was a Mechanical Engineer by profession, which he chose so that he could be creative and work with his hands. He was an avid hobbyist, and always had at least one project he was working on. During the past decade, he had a side business where he restored and fully created retro arcade cabinets.
Ernie had pride in his Ukrainian heritage, as well as his Floridian upbringing. He owned and displayed multiple Ukrainian flags, and he preserved and passed down his Ukrainian father’s cultural items. He also deeply appreciated tiki-style decor and owned a plethora of Hawaiian shirts, which reminded him of his home state.
Ernst Gerasim Sergejenko, Jr. was born on May 22, 1970, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, to Ernst Gerasim Sergejenko Sr. and Georgiana Mary Dostal.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Diane Renée Sergejenko, 55, his children Ash Georgiana Sergejenko, 22, and Amanda Lee Tost, 30; his bonus children Alejandro Reynaldo Martinez, 32, Julie Alexa Martinez, 34, Stephanie Nicole Dorn, 38, and her husband Brandon Lee Dorn, 36; and his grandchildren Budd Lee Dorn, 10, and Quinn Ella Dorn, 7. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Howie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church hall on the corner of Pearl St and Charles St on the Green in Wellsboro, PA. All are welcome.
