
Donald F. Smith 92 of Blossburg PA, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather went home to the Lord on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Born on Wednesday, June 28, 1933, to Franklin & Helen (Tanner) Smith of Blossburg.
Don was a Korean War Veteran 1954-1956. He was a member of the Blossburg American Legion Post 572.
Donny aka “Smitty” was known for his Body and Fender business in the 60’s but was best known as a gas man. He worked at the North Penn Gas Company for 27 years. He served on the Blossburg Boro Council for 15 years, as well as the Williamson Road TV board for 25 years. Don was like the town historian, remembering dates, names, and locations from years back.
Smitty’s generation knew him as an avid roller skater where dancing on skates was his favorite hobby. He enjoyed skating in almost every rink within 75 miles.
Don ran a small CB radio repair business where avid CBers came from miles away to get their radio fixed. If you were a trucker, you knew Smitty. He loved old cars, Nascar, and baseball. He always drove a shiny car, loved traveling and pimping out his Ford tractor. He kept his lawn impeccable. He enjoyed his coffee time with special friends Bob Stoudt and Merle Bower as well as many others, several of whom passed on. He loved going to Abbey’s and Eddie’s restaurants. He was also the laminate king of Tioga County distributing his handy work to whom ever the article was about. He loved listening to Ed Clute, the blind piano player from Watkins Glen, NY.
Don was loved by his 3 surviving children Theresa (Tom) Mahosky, Sherry (Mike) Stoudt, Scott (Theresa) Smith, all from Blossburg as well as 7 grandchildren TJ (Kristen), Nick, Sean (Lauren), Austin, Michael (Briana), Samantha (Brian) and Ashley. He has 12 surviving great grandchildren Tyler, Lacey, Zack ,Alex, Gabe, Kylie, Kennedi, Layla, Stephen, Max, Grace and Kaia. 2 surviving sisters Phylis Williams and Dorothy (Ray) Frank. Several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Ruth A (Williams) Smith, Stepson Joseph Smith, Brother-in-law Kenneth Williams as well as his mother Helen (Tanner) Smith and father Franklin D Smith.
A memorial will be held on Saturday March 28, 2026, at Freeburg’s Funeral Home in Blossburg with the viewing reception from 10:30 to 11:30 am and a Military burial service at Arbon Cemetery in Blossburg (weather permitting) immediately following.
