


Dennis Alan Barnett, age 55, of Crestview, FL, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025. He was born Wednesday, September 2, 1970, in Baltimore, MD.
When he was 11, he moved to Tioga County, PA with his family.
Dennis joined the United States Air Force upon his graduation from Mansfield Jr. Sr. High School, class of 1988. After basic training, he went on to technical school to become Security Police. He was stationed in the Philippines and Guam where he was assigned to horse patrol. He then went on to be stationed in Maine before ending his enlistment at Eglin, AFB as a Master Sergeant after about 21 years of faithful and sacrificial service.
Dennis was employed by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in 2009 and retired in 2019. Towards the end of his career with OCSO, he was a school resource officer and found it the most rewarding part of his service.
He was a faithful and loving member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a proud member of Combat Vets Motorcycle Association (CVMA).
Dennis gave his absolute all in every endeavor whether peddling the newspaper, working on the farm, McDonald’s, playing baseball and softball, riding motorcycles, etc. His life of sacrifice and service extended to every possible facet of his life. Anyone who has met Dennis knows he always served with a smile no matter the circumstance.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Ashley Barnett; his children Ashley Blake, Taylor and James Brendel; his parents, Walt and Barb Bump; his siblings, Rochelle and Bill Winter, Eric Barnett, Joe Bump, Lee Bump; his Grandchildren Jaylee, Coltan, Harper, Sophia, and Owen and a very special nephew, which Dennis called the son he always wanted, Jared Bump; as well as many other wonderful nieces and nephews.
Dennis was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, a sister-in-law, Lori Barnett, and his biological father.
May this amazing hero’s legacy live on forever and always.
Friends and family are invited to call on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Buckheit Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. located at 637 South Main Street in Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
