Obituary of Carl David Walker

Carl David Walker was born on April 16, 1960, in New York, NY, and died on February 28, 2026. He was the son of the late Earnest Walker and Inez Walker. He was preceded in death by his daughter Angel Walker, sisters Sarah Walker & Laura Walker Jones, and brother Benny Walker & sister-in-law Gwendolyn Smith.

Carl was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, coach and friend.

He was a devout member of Kingdom Hall. He was a pillar in the Mansfield area and surrounding communities.

Carl graduated from Mansfield State College with a B.A. in communications in 1985. He was part of the ’83-’84 Basketball Championship team lead by Ed Wilson. Carl was inducted into the Mansfield University Hall of Fame in 2019.

Mr. Walker was a supervisor at Tioga County Human Services where he devoted 35 years to help change the lives of delinquent youths. Carl and Jackie also hosted several foster kids over the years.

Carl organized and ran a basketball program every summer for 19 years at Packer park. He then became the Mansfield JR./SR High School assistant basketball coach where they also won a championship.

Carl leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Jacqueline Walker (Jackie) of 41 years. Son Robert (Dawn)Smith; Daughter Monica (George) Palmer; 9 Grandkids Demetri, Dorien, Kaynen, Da’Kai, Hailey, Amari, Devyn, Dawsyn, and Dylani; Mother in law Pearlie Smith; Sisters: Dorothy Holloway; Delores Henderson; Williamae Ferdinand; Martha Shorte; Polly Joyner; Brothers: Ernest Walker (Diane); Horace Walker (Bobbie); Stanley Walker (Helen); Charles (Regina) Walker; Sister in law: Stephanie (Brian) Beamon; Brothers in law Richard Ferdinand; Ronald Smith; & Derrick (Tracy) Smith. God Sons Tahaun Tuitt; Braydon Post; God Daughters: Ebony Smith; Mekyiah Bagan; A host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Decker Gymnasium, 70 S. Stadium Dr. Mansfield, PA. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Lynn Johnson officiating. A burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Mansfield.
