MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineer men’s basketball team and eighth year head coach John Szentesy welcome nine new athletes to the program as the Mounties begin the 2025-26 campaign.
Seven transfers and two incoming recruits headline Mansfield’s newest class, as Coach Szentesy turned to the portal to assemble a talented, battle-tested core.
The Mountaineers enter the season with postseason ambitions, aiming to climb the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) standings and secure a return trip to the playoffs. With an upgraded roster, Mansfield is positioned to make a noticeable impact across the conference.
Back to lead the charge are Sterling Scott and LJ Stansbury, a proven scoring duo who each averaged 13 points per game last year. Their experience, combined with the depth and versatility of the transfer additions, gives the Mounties a balanced, seasoned lineup capable of contending from opening tip.
After an exhibition with Ball State, the Mountaineers open the regular season at the Ron Wilson Classic hosted by Millersville. This two-day, four-team classic starts with Mansfield against University of Charleston on November 14, followed by Virginia Union University to end the weekend on November 15.
