
CU-Mansfield Sports Release – February 2026.
WHEELING, W. Va.- The Mansfield Mountaineers Baseball team took a 10-5 victory in game one of their weekend series against Wheeling University, in a nine-inning game on Friday, Feb. 20.
Garrett Emerick earned the victory for Mansfield (2-3). He threw eight innings and tossed eight strike outs and only allowing three runs. Slade Mictigue was 2-3 with three RBI. Brinden Floyd hit his first homerun of the season going 2-4 at the plate and a pair of RBI.
The Mounties trailed early 2-0 after two innings. Ryan Sekluski tripled to bring in the first Mountaineer run. Floyd would go yard in the fourth inning but Mansfield trailed 4-2 entering the fifth inning.
Mansfield would find their stride in the fifth inning Floyd and Mictigue would each drive in runs to tie the game at 4-4. Mansfield took the lead for good in the sixth inning on RBI from Tanner Hoffman and Kahale Burns to go up 6-4.
After surrendering a run in the seventh, Mansfield would add the final four runs in the eighth inning on hits from Billy Riggs and Mictigue each bringing in a pair of RBI to bring the final to 10-5.
