Mountaineers Edged by Huskies

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Mansfield University men’s basketball team competed on January 21, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action against Bloomsburg. A close matched battle resulted in a Huskies take away, 72-61.

Nasir Brown paced the Mounties with a game-high 18 points, attacking the rim throughout the night while also dishing out five assists.

Sterling Scott logged 10 points and a team-best eight rebounds, providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor.

Mansfield (1-16, 0-11 PSAC) opened the first half slow picking up the pace as the time ticked down to the half.

Bloomsburg  (5-12, 2-9 PSAC) left the court leading 38–28 after the opening half. 

The Mounties responded out of halftime behind Julian Wilson, who scored efficiently in the paint and finished with 10 points and five rebounds.

Mansfield briefly grabbed momentum midway through the second half as Brown, Scott, and Juju Pagan combined to pressure the Huskies defensively.

Pagan added seven points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Joshua Franklin chipped in four assists and two blocks.

Bloomsburg regained control late, but Mansfield continued to compete, with Darrien Berrios Rivera knocking down a key three-pointer and Diarmid Stewart contributing four points and two steals off the bench.

The Mounties closed the night with balanced contributions across the lineup but ultimately fell 72–61.
