Motorcyclist Ejected From Motorcycle After Hitting Deer

GILLETT, PA – Fire crews from Millerton and Big Elm out of Daggett responded to a serious single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a deer on Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2025, in Wells Township.  

The crash was said to have occurred in front of 2637 Roaring Run Road around 1:00 PM.  

Early reports to the local 911 Dispatch Center indicated that a motorcyclist had struck a deer.  It was speculated that the operator was ejected from the motorcycle and thrown into the base of a tree.  

The male victim was unconscious when a passerby stopped to assist and report the crash.

The 911 dispatcher that took the call immediately checked the availability of a medical helicopter as Millerton Fire Department crews responded with their rescue units.

Guthrie Air Medical helicopter would accept the call to standby and if they responded they were to land in a field near the intersection of Roaring Run Road and Updike Road. . 

The injured motorcyclist was in trauma arrest when Rescue 12-8 out of Millerton arrived on scene at 1:18 PM and CPR was immediately started by Erway Ambulance personnel that had also just arrived on scene.  

The male victim was loaded into the ambulance and was quickly transported to the nearest hospital which was Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY.

Guthrie Air medical helicopter was then canceled as the patient was already heading to the hospital.

Firefighters set up traffic control at the intersection of Roaring Run Road and Updike Road. 

By 1:40 PM Millerton Fire Department’s Rescue 12-8 was cleared from the scene. Other Millerton fire units would leave the scene to respond to a medical incident around 2:26 PM. The Big Elm Fire Department crews remained on scene with Pennsylvania State Police for some time.

FNN has not received a Pennsylvania State Police release on this incident at this time.  As for the outcome or the condition of the motorcyclist, both are variables are still unknown. If new information becomes available that information will be added to this article as soon as possible.
