OSWAYO TOWNSHIP, PA – On Thursday morning, September 18, 2025, Singlehouse fire and emergency crews responded to a two vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a tractor trailer at the intersection of Butter Creek Road and Pump Station Road in Oswayo Township, Potter County, PA.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident was reported around 11:21 AM. Upon their investigation it was determined that a Freightliner operated by 36-year-old Carl M. Benoit of Hyattsville, Maryland was traveling north on Kibbeville Road and upon approaching the intersection, traveled through the intersection. As Benoit was traveling through that intersection, a Suzuki DR 650 motorcycle operated by 68-year-old Jeremiah D. Alderfer of Ulysses, PA, was traveling west along Butter Creek Road when he struck the Freightliner’s passenger door. The motorcycle came to a stop at the intersection of of Kibbeville Road and Butter Creek Road. The Freightliner stopped north of the intersection on Pump Station Road.
Motorcyclist Jeremiah Alderfer of Ulysses, PA, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Potter County Coroner, Kevin Dusenbury. Police noted that Alderfer was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the crash.
Truck driver Carl Benoit of Maryland, did not suffer any physical injuries and he declined medical treatment.
