LAWRENCEVILLE, PA – Mechanic Street in Lawrenceville Borough, was the scene of another fire this week. However, this time firefighters were able to save the same the home from going up in flames late Wednesday evening, November 26, 2025.
Fire crews from from Lawrenceville and Tioga, as well as a Rapid Intervention Team from Elkland were all dispatched to a reported possible structure fire at 67 Mechanic Street around 10:38 PM.
The Tioga County 911 Dispatcher informed responding fire personnel that this was reported as a small fire on the porch of a home.
Lawrenceville fire personnel arrived on scene around 10:41 PM and confirmed that this was a small fire on the porch of the home. It was also noted, that the fire had extended into the exterior wall of the home.
Two engines from Lawrenceville responded quickly to the scene and rapidly went to work at getting access fire that had spread to the interior of the wall.
According to Lawrenceville Fire Department, firefighters pulled back siding and opened up the exterior wall to exposed the fire. Once the wall was opened the fire was revealed. Then the fire was immediately extinguished with the use of a water can.
Lawrenceville and Tioga firefighters gained access to the interior of the home to guarantee the fire had not spread anywhere else.
Firefighters found a thicker haze inside the basement of the structure, so crews had to pull down some of the ceiling to make sure there was no active fire.
Firefighters went to work at ventilated the structure once they knew the fire had been extinguished.
The fire was reported out at 11:12 PM. Fire crews at that time started picking up and getting gear taken care of.
Tioga fire crews were cleared to head back to their station around 11:27 PM. Meanwhile, Lawrenceville Command turned the scene over to the homeowner at 11:29 PM, and the remaining Lawrenceville fire crews were able to return to their station, with another job well done.
The 1976 two-story three bedroom home was indeed saved due to the rapid response of firefighters and their fast action on extinguishing the flames.
There was no one home when the fire broke out. There has been no official word as to what caused the fire. There was also no reported injuries.
