
CU-Mansfield Sports Release – March 1, 2026.
RALEIGH, NC. – The Mountaineer softball team (2-1) traveled to compete in the Triangle Classic Tournament, with the Mounties taking the first and passed by in the second.
Game One: Mansfield 3, West Virginia State University 1
Both teams started strong with up and down innings for the first two.
Shannon Perlungher scored her first ever career home run, bringing in Kaelyn Watson with.
The Yellow Jackets followed suit collecting a homer of their own in the top of the fifth.
Paige Reichard popped one up to left field, catching an RBI with Sarah Sherman scoring in the bottom of the fifth ultimately taking the win, 3-1.
Game Two: Frostburg State 6, Mansfield 5
Scoring opened up in the first inning with an RBI to lf from Alex Reisinger, giving Aubrey Reinert the opportunity to score.
The third inning, was filled with determination as three runs were able to score from Reichard, Reisinger and Sarah Shupp.
The bobcats were able to pick up two runs in the fourth inning off a home run, cutting the lead 5-2.
Three RBI’s from Frostburg tied up the game in the fifth.
Frostburg took the lead for the first time in the game with the winning RBI in the sixth inning.
