CHESTERFIELD, VA – Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews and numerous tankers responded to a large fire at the Skinquarter Landfill that lit up the evening sky at 1:18 SM Saturday morning, April 25, 2026. The landfill is located in the 20700 block of Hull Street Road.

Due to the location of the landfill and the lack of hydrants in that area, mutual aid was requested from fire departments around Chesterfield, and a tanker one from Amelia. Water was still being hauled in to the landfill from an established water fill site, this morning, as firefighters worked to contain the fire.

The fire was brought under control later in the morning.

Fire officials stated that this fire is expected to burn for an extended period of time and smoke will be visible throughout the day in that area, until firefighters are able to extinguish the landfill blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
