Firefighters Assist With Traffic Control After Vehicle Hits Deer

MIDDLEBURY CENTER, PA – The Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Company responded to provide traffic control at the scene of a single vehicle accident involving a deer. The crash occurred in the area of 2408 Route 249 late Tuesday evening, October 14, 2025, in Chatham Township around 9:57 PM.

Fire personnel arrived at the scene around 10:09 PM and confirmed that a vehicle was disabled as it sat in the roadway after striking a deer.

The driver of the damaged vehicle requested Cooper’s Towing out of Wellsboro, PA.

Pennsylvania State Police also responded to the accident since the vehicle was disabled in the crash. State Police arrived by 10:23 PM to investigate the crash and write up a report.

The driver involved in the accident was not injured.

The vehicle was later towed from scene which allowed all fire units present to start heading back to their station by 10:45 PM,
