
WESTFIELD, PA – Fire units responded to a reported structure fire in Westfield Township on Thursday morning, October 2, 2025, around 9:30 AM.
Crary Hose Company, Chatham Fire Department, Clymer Hose Company, Knoxville-Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company, RIT from Elkland Volunteer Fire Department, along with Sabinsville Ambulance were all dispatched to 65 Whitaker Road where an oven fire broke out inside a two story farm house at that location.
Crary Hose fire personnel arrived on scene by 9:43 AM and no smoke was visible from outside the home. According to Crary Hose Company Fire Chief Goltz, Crary Hose Company’s Tanker 5-5 along with Chief 5-20 were first arrive on scene. Firefighters then entered the home and found an active fire in a oven.
Once Command was established and the situation was contained, all responding fire units were told to hold at their present locations,. Firefighters quickly secured the oven and removed it from the house. The fire crew then checked for extension of flames in the home. Thankfully none were found and a recall was issued to all fire units that were on hold with the exception of firefighters who remained on scene to ventilate the residence..
It was noted by Chief Goltz that the following units were assisted on scene, Crary Hose Company’s tanker and squad, a tanker and patrol unit from Knoxville, a tanker from Little Marsh, as well as an engine and a Rescue unit from Sabinsville, PA. All other units were recalled.
Fire crews were cleared from the incident and were able to return back to their stations at 10:01 AM.
