HORSEHEADS, NY – A 3-alarm fire that destroyed three businesses brought firefighters from seven departments to the business plaza located at 3317 Chambers Road in Horseheads. Fire crews came in from Big Flats, Corning Joint Fire, Elmira Heights, Horseheads, Painted Post, Millport, Tompkins Corners, and Town & Country to help battle the business blaze.
The fire was reported at Dunkin’ Donuts, early Thursday morning, February 26, 2026, around 5:15 AM.
Flames then spread throughout the small business plaza. The three businesses that were destroyed included Dunkin’ Donuts, Baskin Robbins, and Your CBD Store.
There was a vheicle seen parked in front of Dunkin’ Donuts, but it is unknown if any employees were inside when the fire started. However, according to Big Flats Fire Chief Dave Sultman, there were no reported injuries.
A section of Chambers Road was closed down as firefighters worked hard to extinguish the growing blaze. The intensity of the heat and flames ended up causing the roof of one of the businesses to collapse.

Fire crews remained on scene for several hours, as firefighters extinguished any remaining flames and hot spots.
As FNN predicted the exact cause of the fire was unable to be determined due to the extent of damage caused. According to a release on Friday, February 27, 2026, from the Big Flats Fire Department, investigators believe it could have been due to an electrical issue. Officials claim the fire that started at Dunkin’ most likely originated at or above the ceiling, spreading to the neighboring businesses.
FNN could not confirm when this particular business plaza built, but was able to learn that Baskin Robbins opened at their location in 2019. It is unknown how many employees in all three businesses lost their jobs due to this terrible fire. Officials of Dunkin’ Donuts stated its employees will be going to work at other locations for now.
The entire building was demolished at the end the day, as fire investigators combed the scene in hopes of finding a cause of this devastating fire.
Fire crews would deal with two rekindles at the plaza scene around 7:00 PM and later around 10:00 PM according to local residents in the area.
