BLOSSBURG, PA – Family medicine physician Lynne Scanlan, DO, has joined the Blossburg Laurel Health Center, located at 6 Riverside Plaza in Blossburg, PA where she is accepting new patients of all ages.
Bringing more than 15 years of expertise in primary care, Dr. Scanlan is board certified in family medicine and has a wealth of experience treating patients in both primary care and urgent care settings. She especially enjoys providing health counseling, women’s health services, pediatrics, and preventive wellness care.
Dr. Scanlan was drawn to rural medicine as the perfect way to combine her love of science, close community, and calling to help others.
“I’ve always had a deep desire to help people, and paired with my love for science, I found medicine let me combine them for a deeply rewarding and purposeful life,” she shares. “I grew up in a small town in PA and love the close community it brings. I wanted to return to the area to work in rural medicine where everyone is your neighbor and supports each other.”
In addition to her clinical education, Dr. Scanlan also has a background in electrical engineering. She earned her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM, her master’s degree in electrical engineering from National Technological University in Fort Collins, CO, and her medical degree from Touro University of Osteopathic Medicine in Henderson, NV. She completed her residency in family medicine at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City, MI.
She is also a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
“Medicine is a continual learning process; there is always some new discovery that we can apply to improve people’s health and quality of life,” Dr. Scanlan adds. “What I love about family medicine in particular, and the reason I chose this challenging area of practice, is that it treats the full scope of health and wellness in patients of all ages.”
Prior to joining Laurel Health, she worked in family medicine with St. David’s Care Now, Lone Star Circle of Care, and Baylor Scott & White Health. She has also volunteered with medical missions around the world to deliver needed medical care to rural communities.
In her free time, she enjoys swimming, cross-country skiing, sledding, biking, and hiking with her labradoodle Chloe.
