WILLIAMSPORT, PA – On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Dwell Orphan Care recently received a $10,000 grant from the Pearls with a Passion Fund at First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania
(FCFP), helping local children who are entering foster care with little to no belongings.
The grant supports Dwell’s Hope Chest Foster Closet, which provides children with essentials such as clothing, shoes, pajamas, duffle bags, toys, books, comfort items, and sensory items. Foster families also receive meals and small gifts to help reduce stress, encourage connection, and build secure attachment during the transition.
“When a child enters care, it’s often sudden and traumatic. Many items of comfort get left behind,” said Jennifer Lake, Executive Director of Dwell. “Thanks to the generosity of the Pearls with a Passion donors and the First Community Foundation Partnership, this grant has allowed us to restore dignity and offer comfort to children while helping foster parents focus on what matters most: building secure, loving relationships and helping children heal.”
