GAINES, PA – A fire broke out around 2:00 AM, Sunday morning, November 16, 2025, in the attic of an old single story two bedroom cabin that was built in 1946, according to property records.

Fire crews from Germania, Galeton, and Morris were first to be dispatched to 3807 Cedar Mountain Road just off of the Elk Run Road in Elk Township. However, later Morris fire units were recalled and a tanker and engine were requested from Crary Hose Company out of Westfield at 2:22 AM.

By 2:29 AM, Germania fire units approached the scene and reported smoke showing from the burning cabin.

Due to the location of the cabin, it was quite a distance away from fire departments that serve that area. In any fire time is always a key factor in saving a structure. It is presently unknown if the cabin was a total loss or not.

A Wellsboro ambulance was said to have also responded to this fire, nevertheless, FNN could not confirm that incoming information.

By 3:47 AM the fire was brought under control by firefighters. Crews had been battling the blaze for over an hour by that time.

The fire was finally reported out at 4:27 AM. A short time later all Crary Hose Company units were cleared to return to their station. Germain and Galeton crews were the last to leave the scene at 4:47 AM, after spending over two hours fighting to extinguish the flames.

There were no reported injuries that FNN is aware of.

According to property records, the owners of the cabin are Jerry and Brian Delaney of Avis, PA.

If FNN receives any additional information on this fire or receives any other confirmations on details, they will be added to this article.
