DANVILLE, PA – A bomb threat was reported Tuesday evening, February 3, 2026, at the Danville State Hospital in Montour County.
According to Pennsylvania State Police based in Milton, they were alerted about the bomb threat by Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Shickshinny who had received the bomb threat call. Milton State Police and First Responders responded around 7:13 PM to the psychiatric hospital at 50 Kirkbride Drive in Mahoning Township after they learned about the threat from an unknown male who stated that he had planted three bombs at the hospital.
The public was urged to avoid the area and First Responders were ordered to close down intersections around the hospital. Parts of Reservoir, Clinic and Ravine roads, as well as parts of River, Gatehouse and Copper Beech drives. including State Hospital Drive at Wall Street were closed by First Responders.
Troopers worked to secure the area as they investigated the bomb threat.
Pennsylvania State Police would later confirm that there were no explosive devices were found at the hospital.
Police noted that the caller was later identified as a current patient at the hospital. It was also learned by police that the patient had stated earlier in the day that he wanted to call 911 due to not being happy with the facility.
The investigation remains ongoing and criminal charges will be filed at a later time.
