Driver Flown Out From Crash Scene In Middlebury Township

MIDDLEBURY CENTER, PA – LifeNet 7-7 Medical Helicopter flies out driver injured in a serious crash in Middlebury Township on Tuesday afternoon, October 28, 2025.

Middlebury and Wellsboro fire crews were dispatched to a single vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of Route 287 and Route 249 (near the corner mart) around 3:10 PM.

Early reports indicated that a minivan had struck a bridge and that the driver was confined inside the vehicle. That information was confirmed when Middlebury fire personnel arrived on scene at 3:13 PM.

Route 287 was closed down as the roadway was blocked due to the crash. The driver of the vehicle was reported entrapped and care was administered as additional fire personnel and needed equipment arrived at the scene. A medical helicopter was requested immediately.

Within twenty minutes of crews arriving on scene, the male driver was extricated from his vehicle at 3:34 PM.

LifeNet 7-7 was directed to the scene and would land in a nearby field just before 4:00 PM. The patient was loaded into the helicopter and was airborne to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA., by 4:14 PM.

The roadway was cleared and the vehicle was removed at 4:15 PM. All remaining fire units were able to return to their station around 4:4:16PM.
