Mildred B. Corwin, 103, of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Born on October 4, 1922, in Colden, NY.
Mildred (Millie) had a sparkle in her eye and a warm smile that everyone who met her remembers. She made you feel like you mattered, whether you were family, an old friend, or someone she’d just met. She loved seeing her friends at the Millerton Senior Center, where she enjoyed many happy lunches with them. She graduated from Shinglehouse High School in 1940 and went on to a long career with GLF, retiring in 1984.
She married the love of her life, Carroll W. Corwin, and became a mother to his three children, William, Betty, and Beverly. Together she and Carroll built a life full of family, faith, and community that spanned 58 years until his passing. She then made her home with daughter and son-in-law Beverly & William Shoup.
Mildred was a devoted and active member of her church throughout her life, most recently St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, which held a special place in her heart.
She loved spending time knitting, sewing, and baking for the people she loved. She took up painting at the age of 100 and kept right on creating. She also cherished the companionship of her beloved cat, Chloe.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Carroll Corwin; her daughter, Betty; her son, William; her son-in-law, William Shoup; her brother, John Bray; her sisters, Marlene Bray, Connie Sawyer and Leola Harmon; and four grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Beverly Shoup; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, all of whom were blessed by her love, her humor, and that unmistakable sparkle in her eye.
She will be remembered not just for the years she lived, but for the joy, warmth, and light she brought to everyone around her. Mildred was, simply, someone everyone loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Millie’s memory to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 15 N Main St, Tioga, PA 16946, or to the Millerton Senior Center, c/o Melissa Virasith, 41 Back St., Millerton, PA 16936.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 26th, with visitation with family beginning at 3:30 p.m. and a memorial service at 4:00 p.m., at the Ven-You, 6 Broad St, Tioga, PA 16946.
