Another Northern Tioga District School Bus Rear Ended In September

ELKLAND, PA – On Wednesday afternoon, September 17, 2025, a Northern Tioga School Bus was rear ended by a car around 3:20 PM. The school district received word of the accident and it was the school district that place a call to 911 to report the crash.

Elkland volunteer Fire Department and EMS units immediately headed to the accident that was reported in the area of East Main Street and Ellison Road. However, when Elkland fire personnel arrived on scene at 3:23 PM, it was noted that the crash was actually along the Ellison Road. The roadway was reported blocked by the two vehicles involved.

Elkland command was able to recall responding EMS crews as there were no injuries to the 25 students onboard the bus and neither driver suffered any injuries in the minor accident. The school bus did not suffer any damage and both vehicles were drivable.

Although both vehicle were drivable, Pennsylvania State Police did respond to crash incident. They would arrive on scene at 3:49 PM.

The roadway was cleared by 4:03 PM and all Elkland fire crews were able to return to their station.

This incident marks the second incident in which a Northern Tioga School Bus has been rear ended this month. Motorist are being reminded to keep their eyes on the road and to expect buses to stop to pick up or drop off students during the school year.

Thanks also went out to the school district’s staff from the administration building and Clark Wood Elementary School for getting to the scene quickly, helping parents with getting their children signed out, and making parent contact from the school.
