
Bonnie Butcher Pierce, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at her home. She was born in Troy, PA to Harold and Margareta (Gates) Butcher. She attended school in Columbia Cross Roads then Jr/Sr/ High in Troy. She then attended Mansfield College for two years. Then worked at Westinghouse in Horseheads, NY for one year.
She married Gary Pierce on May 5, 1967. Married by Rev. Orey Crippen. She went back to Mansfield College and got her BS in Library Science. She worked as a substitute librarian in Troy School District and Elmira and Horseheads School Districts. She then worked for many years as Director of the Mansfield Public Library.
She and Gary have 3 sons, Theron (Sarah) of Mansfield, PA, Lee (Brenda) of Louisiana, Nathan (Christy) of Louisiana. Bonnie’s brothers-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Pierce of Santa FE, NM, and Phil (Elizabeth) Pierce of Hagamon, NY. Bonnie is survived by sisters, Sue (Dave) Pazzaglia of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, and Brenda (Richard) Powlison of Covington, PA; brothers, Mike Butcher of Wellsboro, PA, and John (Barb) of Millerton, PA; and special trucking and camping friends, Ken and Dawn Boyd of Canton/Morrisdale, PA. She enjoyed ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Bonnie and Gary traveled and camped for over 50 years and saw a lot of the US. She enjoyed reading, traveling, home making, reading, and adventure.
Gary wishes to extend his sincere thanks to Sarah and Theron Pierce, Sue and Dave Pazzaglia and Mike Butcher for their help in Bonnie’s last days. Also thank you to Guthrie Hospice for their very much appreciated help.
