SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The Mountaineer baseball team (11-21, 2-10 PSAC East) traveled to Shepherdstown, West Virginia to compete against the Rams (21-12, 8-4 PSAC East) on Saturday (April 4) afternoon, with Mansfield falling in both.
Game One: Shepherd 9, Mansfield 2
In the first inning, Shepherd was able to earn a run after an RBI which started the scoring sequence for the day.
Three more runs were posted in the second inning giving the Rams a, 4-0 lead.
A home run in the fifth and three more runs in the six, ended the scoring for Shepherd, 9-0.
The Mounties brought in two runs in the final inning, but it was not enough as Shepherd took the game, 9-2.
Game One: Shepherd 22, Mansfield 16
The Rams had a fast start with 10 runs in the first two innings.
The Mounties scored four runs in the second with all of them being RBIs.
Shepherd collected eight more runs to the tally giving them a comfortable lead of 18-4.
The Mountaineers pushed back with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Mansfield was able to cut the lead down with another four runs in the fifth, 18-12.
A home run and a double to the left line allowed two runs to come in for the Rams in the sixth.
Two double scoring opportunities for the Mounties gave them a final set score of 16 runs on the game.
However in the seventh the Rams gained another run to seal the deal with 22-16.
