BRADFORD COUNTY, PA – 52-year-old Ricky G. LaFritz, formerly of Texas, and is presently residing in the Bradford County Correctional Facility, was sentenced in March to a minimum of seven months in state prison to a maximum of 4 years for the offense of Failure to Verify Address or be Photographed, a felony of the third degree. LaFritz was charged with the offense by Officer Seth Murrelle of the Sayre Borough Police Department after the officer learned that LaFritz failed to the comply with the requirements of the Sexual Offenders Registration Notification Act, (SORNA), commonly referred to as Megan’s Law.
LaFritz had been convicted of indecency and sexual contact with a child in Texas back in 1993, and an additional offense in Tioga County, N.Y., in 2011.
LaFritz was required to register under that Act with the Pennsylvania State Police due to a prior conviction from 1993 involving indecency with a child, sexual contact, in Texas, and an additional offense in Tioga County, New York from 2011. Pennsylvania monitors the whereabouts of people with such convictions to help prevent future incidents.
