
Larry H. Keeney, Sr. age 80 of Lawrenceville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1945, in Corning, NY and was a son to the late Leon and Florence (Middaugh) Keeney.
As a young man he helped on many local area farms. He was a 1967 class graduate from Corning Painted Post West High School. Following his graduation he worked for the former A&P Plant then later he went on to manage Charles Wilcox Exxon Garage in Lawrenceville. He retired after 45 years of service as a maintenance and custodial worker for the Northern Tioga School District in both the Williamson Elementary and High School.
Larry was well known around the area for his dedicated service to the Lawrenceville Fire Department for 50 years, with 30 of those years as President, and as a driver for the Lawrenceville Ambulance Corps for 27 years. He was also the Constable for the town of Lawrenceville at one point.


It was said Larry lived a life of service, touching the lives of many children and people, he was also a devoted family man. He enjoyed teaching his children life skills and always took pride in his children and family.
Larry was an avid carpenter, he ran bingo for the fire company, and loved to be outdoors whether that was farming, gardening, driving his tractor or mowing lawns.
He enjoyed Bluegrass music and even hosted a family jamboree weekend at his home for 10 years.
Traveling to Carolina Beach with his family and then in his later years traveling the Eastern United States with his wife Paula were some of his favorite memories.
Larry was a Christian and attended the Bear Town Road Alliance Church. He was deeply engrained in the community and will be missed by all, especially by his children and his siblings.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Paula (Allen, House) Keeney; brothers, Raymond (Millie) Keeney of Millerton, PA, Philip Keeney of Tioga, PA, Warren Keeney of Millerton, PA, and Ken (Anna) Keeney of Corning, NY; sisters, Mary (Alfred) Colegrove of Mansfield, PA, Clida (Steve) Davis of Lawrenceville, PA, and Nadine (Victor) Brown of Porter, TX; sons, Larry (Jennifer) Keeney Jr. of Archdale, NC and Eugene Michael (Cathy) Keeney of Lawrenceville, PA; daughters, Lucinda (Frank) Asbury of Ripley, WV and Tracy (Jay) McConnell of Harrison Valley, PA; stepsons, Rick (Brenda) Sackrider of Tioga PA, Raymond (Patricia) Sackrider of Lawrenceville, PA, and Robert House of Jasper, NY; stepdaughters, Daphne (David Woodcock) Froelich of Elmira, NY and Teresa (Marshall) Trezevant of Cumming, GA; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 13 step great grandchildren; 6 step great-great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Vicky Snyder of Westfield, PA; brothers in law, Erwin (Elaine) Allen of Hornell, NY, Ethan (Patricia) Allen of Jacksonville, NC, and Alan Allen of West Union, NY; sisters in law, Jeanette Stock of Hornell, NY, Susanne (Steve) Turner of Borden, IN, Waneta (Steve Dutschke) Crosby of Louisville, KY, Sharon Allen of Greenwood, NY, Lorraine McNeil of Lindley, NY and Carole (Floyd) Simmons of Williamsport, PA; several nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, the Lawrenceville Firemen, Ambulance Corp, Lamar Taylor, Walt Beach, and Ron Bryant.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; second wife, Yvonne (Burrous) Keeney; brother, Fred Keeney; grandson, Jay C. McConnell II; brothers in law, Harry Burrous, David Allen, Stewart Allen, Michael Allen, David (Elaine) Tracy, Carl Burrous, Otto “Bud” Burrous and Clayton Stock; and sisters in law, Erma (Bob) Dibble, Doris (Jack) Schoener, Julia (Raymond) Butler, Dorothy (Dale) Cleveland, and Elaine (David) Tracy.
Family and friends are called to the Lawrenceville Fire Hall, 9 Mechanic St, Lawrenceville, PA 16929, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm for calling hours. A memorial service and fireman’s service will be held immediately following at 1:00 pm with pastors Isaac Howe and Harold Burrell officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Fire Hall following the services; all are welcome to join the family.
