MANSFIELD, PA – Early Sunday morning, March 1, 2026, Mansfield Hose Company fire crews and ambulance unit responded to a water truck accident in Richmond Township.
Fire crews were dispatched around 5:27 AM to the area of 18795 Route 6 where a water truck came to rest up against the guide rail.
Fire personnel arrived on scene by 5:31 AM and immediately requested a cinder truck from PennDOT to treat the road where the crash occurred. They also noted damage was done to the guardrail and stated the westbound lane was blocked.
The driver, 26-year-old Andrew S. Lands of Cameron Mils, NY, was not injured in the accident.
Pennsylvania State Police would later report that the accident was actually in the area of 18693 Route 6.
According to police, Lands was traveling westbound along Route 6 when he was unable to negotiate a left curve, and he lost control of his 2019 Peterbilt truck and struck the guardrail twice. After the initial impact with the front of his truck, the vehicle then rotated 180 degrees and struck the guardrail with the driver side of the truck.
The American Truck Stop towing service was next to respond to the crash. They would arrive on scene around 6:10 AM.
Once the water truck was cleared from the roadway, all fire crews were able to return to their station.
No citations were issued to the driver.
