WYSOX, PA – Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative (REC) and its broadband subsidiary, Revolution Broadband, welcomed Bradford and Wyoming County cooperative members, partners, and community leaders to an educational open house on Thursday, February 26, at the co-op’s headquarters in Wysox. The event offered attendees an inside look at Claverack REC’s broadband initiative and marked the official completion of the Capital Projects Fund – Broadband Infrastructure Program (CPF‐BIP) project.

Claverack’s fiber broadband initiative began after the cooperative secured federal support for a proposed broadband project in 2020 and subsequently formed Claverack Communications, LLC. This forward‐looking step positioned the cooperative to strengthen grid reliability while delivering next‐generation connectivity to under‐ and unserved rural communities. In 2022, Claverack introduced its broadband brand, Revolution, officially launching its long‐term plan for a fiber‐to‐the‐home network.

That vision accelerated in April 2024, when the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) awarded Claverack REC $4,771,248 through the Capital Projects Fund – Broadband Infrastructure Program. The funding supported the construction of 100 miles of new fiber‐optic cable, enabling nearly 1,300 unserved and underserved homes across rural Bradford and Wyoming Counties to access high‐speed internet for the first time.

“We were proud to share this milestone with the people who made it possible,” said Steve Allabaugh, Claverack REC President & CEO. “Years of planning, investment, and collaboration brought us to this moment.

Ongoing Network Expansion Across the Region Claverack REC’s fiber‐to‐the‐home network continues to grow rapidly. Revolution Broadband now serves many areas of Bradford County and is actively building in portions of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties. Recent funding awards—including the CPF‐BIP grant—have enabled the cooperative to expand service into communities that did not appear on early versions of
its availability map.

“We know that some members checked our availability map early on and thought we weren’t coming to their area,” said Kyle Lane, Director of Broadband Operations. “At that time, the CPF‐BIP project zones weren’t yet included. With the new funding and the completion of construction, many additional locations have now been added. We strongly encourage residents to check again — you may now be within reach of our expanding fiber network.”

Residents can verify service eligibility by selecting the “Register Your Interest” button at RevolutionBroadband.net and entering their physical address. The cooperative updates its map regularly as new zones go live.

Allabaugh emphasized how the broadband project supports Claverack’s broader mission. “Revolution Broadband connects our members to the world, and at the same time, the fiber network reinforces the reliability of the electric grid that powers their homes,” he said. “It’s a powerful combination—greater access, stronger infrastructure, and better service for the people we serve. We were honored to celebrate this milestone with our communities.”

About the CPF‐BIP Program:
The Capital Projects Fund Broadband Infrastructure Program is a federal initiative designed to expand broadband access in areas lacking internet speeds of at least 25/3 Mbps. Pennsylvania allocated $200 million statewide to support broadband deployment, helping ensure rural communities receive the high‐speed connectivity needed for today’s digital world.
