CU-Mansfield Sports Release – March 1, 2026.
MANSFIELD, PA – The Mansfield Mountaineers women’s basketball team competed on February 28, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action against Kutztown University, to celebrate senior day. In the competitive battle, the Golden Bears got the win 59-54.
Katie Sheeler led the Mounties with 21 points.
Amiyah Nguyen added 12 points.
The Mountaineers and Golden Bears took to the court this afternoon, both hungry for a conference win.
They traded points throughout the first quarter as the teams got a feel for one another.
Kutztown was able to win the off and on contest in the first quarter, with the Mounties right on their tails, 18-13.
There was plenty of bickering on the scoreboard throughout the first half, keeping it a close and exciting game for the crowd.
Mansfield won that argument and headed into the lockers with a leg up, 29-28.
Mansfield’s defense stood very solid against Kutzown’s offensive attempts, with Ty Woody denying multiple opportunities for the Golden Bears.
Lots of Mountie Pride on the court and in the stands kept the atmosphere alive.
A heartbreaking loss for Mansfield, as Kutztown was able to get the final say with a score of 59-54.
